I now see it is the Stuka (87 NOT 88) that they were bringing back to life - my mistake.

I think Allen generally did not fly extreme rarities (the FW190D for example), except maybe a single short flight to demonstrate flyability, and I think that was the plan for the Ju.87.

Only one guy, Gary Smith is saying this. There's been no other reports about this. Brad Pilgrim said it arrived safely and I heard nothing else when I asked someone from that camp.

To be clear, all I said was it was now sitting in the warehouse with the Hispano. I was in Houston working on the B-23 when the Heinkel was moved.

If the Jumo 211 can operate reliably I don't think there is anything inherently dangerous to fly the Stuka unless it doesn't fly well in engine-out situations, which it may not. I doubt the dive capabilities would be demonstrated just yet.
