Wow, what a sound and sight, very rare in these parts.

I was getting the lawn mower ready when I heard that beautiful sound looked up and there was Sentimental Journey flying high and over head.

Gave me goose bumps just be able to watch it fly over head on a prefect day :D :D . Looks like it is heading to Maine. Wish Albany was a stop. :(

I am amazed that its going to be up there for a month.
What a great place to go for a fortress ride.

Awesome experience for us old Warbird fans. It happened to me last year.

Our house is on the approach to our municipal airport, and also gets a lot of traffic overhead from Dulles, so I'm accustomed to constant aircraft noise. When I heard the Collins Foundation B-17, though, I realized it was something very special.

Ran out into the backyard, stripped to the waist, with shaving cream all over my face!

I didn't hear her come in, but SJ had to divert to BIA last night because of fog and is now sitting out here because of heavy cross winds.

And a couple of KC-135s, the R-model even stopped and posed for us!

Lived 7 years in Tucson.... Still don't get why the turret has a green tint in it. The plane is gorgeous, but that detrtacts from the overall look.. in my opinion.....

It helps keep the interior cooler, even at atlitude its a warm spot. You would know what the ant feels when its under the glass. When we went X/C in the B-25 Yellow Rose, the nose was the best seat for the warm sun.

It may detract from the looks but it really does help to deflect some of the heat. Some of the B-25s have green tint on the eyebrow windows on top

Hmmm,

I just spent the last two days at Hyannis (KHYA) and there is a flyer hanging in the operations office for S.J. for July 28th.

How do I get to BHB and back from HYA?

Well, Ken, I suppose you COULD SWIM  , But seeing as SJs in Bar Harbor now, you probably have time to walk! :? (If you're really desparate, it is a nice drive,as you well know. Do you need someone to FOD an engine, bust out a map light or pull some CBs on a Gulfstream so as you have to drive up and fix it?! :? ).

The Citation breaking gods have answered me.

I will be heading to Bar Harbor (KBHB) in the morning.
I have a flap pointer to repair and then I will be hanging out for a couple of hours to catch a flight back to BOS.

I get to work on a Thunder Mustang on friday. (oil leak)
Then I'm gonna get paid to fly to BHB and get to see SJ while I'm there on Saturday.

I might almost like my job again.

Hey,

Just got home from BHB.

I got the call at 11:30 last night. Planned my trip for the morning and was up at 7:AM.
Drove to Bedford (KBED) to pack tools and open the W.O. Drove to Wilmington, MA to pick up the part at Fedex. Drove to Boston to buy a ticket and fly to Bar Harbor (KBHB)
I got on the 11:00 AM flight arrived at BHB at 12:10
I arrive at the FBO on the ramp at BHB and the girl at the front desk goes to hand me the key to the A/C and she also hands me a note.

"HEY KEN LANGUIO WE CAME TO FIND YOU BUT NO YOURE NOWHERE TO BE FOUND.
GIVE US A CALL ###-###-####
SIgned THE COL-N-BETTER HALF, PLUS THE REST OF THE MSBM"

Does anybody recognize this odd form of code?

Anyway, I installed the small cap on the flap position pointer, fired up the 560XL to ops check the flaps and finished the paperwork.
There were 4 Netjets airplanes on the ramp and I called them to see where they were going to maybe bum a ride home. No chance!

I went back next door and booked a ride home on a 1900 to BOS and jumped on the local shuttle bus go get a sandwich before flying back.
The subshop I went to first was closed so I went up the street to walk around the B-17, take a few pictures and say hello. I was chatting to a crewmember for a few minutes and was offered a ride back to the terminal if I ran out of time. Off to the subshop down the road with 40 minutes to spare. After I grabbed a sub and a drink, I started walking back to the terminal. A few seconds later a car honked and pulled over.
I approached the car not having any idea who it may be.

It was the girl from the FBO who recognized my P-51 T-Shirt.
She picked me up and I made it with time to spare.

Back to BOS and my bag at the baggage claim. (Tool bags must be checked) Into my truck and home at 5:30

WHEW!
