Warbird Information Exchange

Looking for information on the paperwork required to import a jet warbird to the US. Specifically ex US warbird returning to the US. Are there any concerns that the US gov't could try to lay claim?

Main one is going to be an ATF Form 6. Showing that the aircraft has been de-milled and no longer a threat. The rest is basically standard import paperwork.

A lot depends on the circumstances of how the aircraft went overseas. Could be a problem if it was loaned to a foreign country and not an outright sale to that country.

Talk to the State Department about that. They may give their approval if you can show them your plan to display the aircraft for the public benefit.

bdk, I wasn't so much referring to State Dept as I was DoD. If it was a MAPs aircraft or some similar agreement to a foreign country they could make a case for seizure.

I'm not an import attorney, but my understanding is a Form 6 and it has to be subsonic.
