Colorfully Marked B-24's

Fri Aug 04, 2006 10:36 am

Besides "The Dragon and His Tail" and formation ships what other B--24's were there that had extravagant noseart, markings, etc. My choice would be B-24H Pistol Packin Mama of the 464th BG.

"Cocktail Hour" 43rd BG. 8)

a number of war weary libs served as "form up planes" painted in garish / gaudy paint schemes such as polka dots, wild stripes, etc to make them stand out after take off to make them easier to see for bomber crews to get into strategic formation for their missions to avoid collision accidents.
