The Snort cockpit is from a Vigilante, don't know the Buno. It's at Sandquist gate. The museum on base has Hornet #1, an A-6E, TA-4J, A-7E and an RF-4. An F-86 Drone and a Spad are out on the airfeild waiting to be finished and placed up at the Museum. I beleive the Spad came from the museum in New England?

The "other" B-29 is in the storage yard out by the airfeild.

There's an F-4 on a pole at the intersection of Lancaster Blvd and Sierra Hwy in Lancaster (at least it was there a few years ago the last time I drove by there!)

Yes it is, although it is not bad yet. There is also the possibility I may be spending some time in sunny CA. I thought I would do my homework before going!

Might I suggest using http://live.local.com for aircraft ID purposes? I'm not usually a big proponent of microsoft products, but in this case they provide access to much better, and newer pictures.

When checking out a site, use the "Birds eye view" picture. As an example:

The bird's eye view pics aren't available everywhere, but they tend to be les than a year old. (Those particular shots were done last fall on a weekday, probably late in the morning.)

The following questions regard Edwards AFB…

Apparently you can now arrange to go on a tour of the base, but apparently the museum is still off limits except to base personnel.

#4.1: Is this the location of the museum? 34 54 05.95 N 117 52 09.18 W Even though there appears to be some vintage aircraft parked on the ramp, the location of the B-52 and B-1s near by make me think not.

I would think most of the base is off limits (with exception of the guided tour). However, Google Earth does make it possible to find some of the displayed aircraft…

Wasn't this the operating name of Tom Friedkin's collection at one time? If so, the aircraft are currently based at Chino with 'Planes of Fame' under the 'Chino Warbirds Inc' name.

3. They have a hanger at Chino right around the corner from Areo Trader.

4. No that's not the museum. It's located on the road in. I don't have the newer verison of windows so I can't get google earth. I'll look it up later on my brother's pc.

The museum is open to the public if you are doing business with Edwards or you're on the tour. I have an easier time getting on the base becasue I take my brother with me and he's retired AF.

The planes out there are "special" planes.

Also the live.local.com doesn't have clear shots of Edwards like google does.

Forgive me if you have already seen this, but these guys have labeled and marked many of the locations you've asked about, including Edwards AFB, surviving F-4's, Etc..
