Hi all,

Looking for a service photo of Birddog 51-12134 which had a build date of March 51', hoping someone has one in their files.

Did you check the book "The Lovable one niner" by by M. Thompson?
It seems to have photos of nearly every L-19 built.

Try asking on the International Birddog Association site . IBDA should get you in.

COngratulations on your new L-19. Another suggestion is to write the archives division at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, for the aircraft's military history. This will include all the units to which it was assigned.and what dates all the way up to the date of disposal.
Then you can check those unit histories for pics. Also check where those units served, for a long shot chance of finding a combat pic of your airplane.
I found a picture of a friend of mine's L-3 by having the military accident records checked at http: // accident-report.com His bird had a hard landing in 1943, and photos of accident are usually included in the investigation. It costs about $25 to $50 USD. If you are really lucky the airplane wasn't wrecked while in govt. service. YOu have the serial number and that's a great head start.
