I attended the show the day the A-20 crashed, but knew nothing about the crash. I don't know if it was the same year, but one year both flyable A-20s were at the show parked together.

I also remember seeing the CAF A-20, along with the B-26, B17 and B-24 at Brownwood back in the 60's. They were all in civilian paint schemes. We heard that the A-20 had major problems as it was being flown in to Brownwood, maybe an engine fire. From looking at its condition, it was hard to believe it had flown in.

Judging by the C-124 in the background of the first shot, I'd say it was taken before they moved to Midland.

BTW: the plane was transported to the Dover AMC museum in side a C-5...or two...maybe three.

Next are the fat ones, round in front, and covered in oil, frequently painted navy. Believe it or not some of these actually fly pretty good, they just sound funny.

Ah, nothing like the "sound of round" -- what's a little oil when the reward is hearing one of 'em fire up?

That's so freaking funny!!! Oh man, look what happens when I don't get on here for a couple of days.

There really are 3 kinds of planes. The coolest are like the one you picked, they are pointed in front, usually have 6 exhaust stacks on each side, sound wonderful, and don't leak oil(maybe a little).

Maybe so, but this lady prefers a man that flies a radial!

I definitely have my favorites, they might not be "favorites" by common standards, but I like 'em.

Ah HA!

I guess the next big question is T-6 or T-28.

(a long running debate here)

I've stated MY preference before, but I'm not shy and will butt in with it again! T-6!!!! But that's just the a/c --

I do know a couple of good-looking guys that fly 'em, though, come to think of it............. !
