In the mid-90s, I can recall there being a Vietnam re-enactment group, I think itr was called the 69th Assault Battalion. They had an O-2, an O-1, Mohawk, Twin Otter, a Skyraider and I believe they may have had an OH-6. Very good routine, wish I would've had my camera with me!

Already being done...

Temora Aviation Museum often incorporate a Vietnam episode into their displays. They've included O-1 Birddogs, an O-2, T-28D and Canberra, plus a couple of A-37Bs. First time I saw it I was impressed by incorporating a couple of airliner's contrails overhead as B-52s!

Korea's not overlooked, with the world's only flying Meteor F-8 painted as 'Halestorm'; the MiG killer.

In the meantime we're happy with out Aussie painted Pommie one. There were quite a few American grunts who were also keen to see the Aussie Canberras turn up.

Canberras from No 2 Squadron became the first Australian jet bombers to perform a combat sortie in September 1958 when an attack against guerillas in Northern Malaya was carried out, the first of many such excursions. Nine years later, the squadron was sent to Vietnam as part of Australia's large commitment to the Vietnam War, remaining there until June 1971, and in the meantime achieving an enviable record flying what was by then regarded by many as an obsolete bomber. Operating as part of the US Air Force's 35th Tactical Fighter Wing, No 2 Squadron's Canberras flew just six per cent of the Wing's sorties but inflicted 16 per cent of the damage. Overall, 11,963 sorties were flown in Vietnam, 76,389 bombs dropped and two aircraft lost.

A few years back at the Terre Haute show they did a Vietnam act with a F-100, O2 and a Skyraider...PRETTY IMPRESSIVE!!

My guys actually had the opportunity to work the F-100. One was a former Hun crew chief! You are right, it was a very impressive display.

Huey, Cobra, Eric and Rick in Spads, Karen in the O2, Ronnie in the Mohawk, Doug in the OH-13, all with smoke, pyro and a downed airman.

John Harrah (of the Harrahs hotel's) had an old H-3E that he bought down in Tucson a while back. He bought it had it made airworthy, had it painted and flew it to Reno. From there he load up and went to Sturgis, SD. I was told by the guy that painted it, the only reason he bought it was to be able to fly to Sturgis and land and ride his Harley out of the back. Now if it ever happend I don't know. I know that Carson Helicopters has quite the stash of H-3's

Thanks for mentioning the CAF show at Midland. I 'bout killed myself trying to make that one happen, and it worked so well that we will have an expanded version for next year. I think the Collings Foundation A-4 will be in the mix...more O-2s, Birddog, S-2, etc.

There's also an OV-10 Bronco now flying in Nam colors in Nevada with a second on it's way, and there are also OV-1 Mohawks out there too.
