Looking through the Helldiver books I've managed to aquire, it appears that after the war the Helldiver's slats were either faired over entirely or fixed shut. In every postwar photo I can find the slats are closed including foreign operators and the CAF's -5. None of the material I have on the Helldiver addresses why this would be.
