Thanks for sharing those! My Grandad flew Hellcats during the war, so I've always had an interest in them.........On my list of "things to do" is to see one fly! Happy New Year!

Then you should try to get to the Chino airshow in May. This year, they had no less than THREE flying.

That pic was taken at Wings Over Houston '05. For some reason it just came out that way. I loved the paint scheme on the POF Hellcat..

LSFM's Hellcat is so nice Trae... good pics. I think I have a couple of it too, should dig them out. I get to see it again in 4 months! Yay!

Trae, no I meant all three pics of the second aircraft. It's extremely bright compared to a normal tri color scheme.

It is indeed VERY bright! Gotta love the 'greenhouse' for the back-seater too.

This is what it should look like when done properly. Probably the best and most accurate Hellcat paintjob anywhere on the planet at the moment. It has that lovely patina of use about it, and is generally flown beautifully.

That's the one ownd by The Fighter Collection at Duxford. Allegedly built around the centre section of Alex Vraciu's aircraft, and painted in his markings. He visited Duxford a few years back, and re-created almost the exact pose of the famous WWII photo of him crouched on the wing - perhaps Jack Cook has a copy in his collection that he can post for us?

BTW, that's Howard Pardue in the cockpit in the first shot.
