Nooòooooooooo! I'm saddened to hear this. I'm disappointed I never met him. I never heard a bad word about him. All I ever heard was what a gentleman and fantastic aviator he was. I consider myself fortunate to have watched him put on a fantastic aerial display with both the P-51 and the Shrike. How fitting that one of his airplanes will forever be on display in the Smithsonian.

Spoke to him on the phone a number of times but sadly never met him: his loss will be keenly felt.
A truly legendary aviator.

Aero-News NetworkANN is deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of aviation legend R.A. "Bob" Hoover, who was often referred to as a "pilot's pilot." Hoover passed away early in the morning on Tuesday in a hospital near his home in Rancho Palos Verdes in California. He was 94 years old...............

As was once said "life should be measured in achievements whatever they might be and not years!".....
Bob did both!
Proud to have had him as a friend...
RIP and tailwinds forever sir...
