looks as if it's not even sitting on in it's landing gear!!! but sitting on the pod!!! i have a 60's topping model of the type.......... cool 8)

Appears that it is being readied to be set on a pole as a memorial someplace.

Its sitting on a steel frame attached to the fuselage.

It's an OV-1D Mohawk sitting on steel girders after being painted, prior to be put on a display mount. The "pod" is actually a SLAR antenna (called a "SLAR boom"). Oddly enough, the only country currently operating the OV-1 (minus SLAR antenna) is Argentina... :wink:

Were you aware that the US Army only allowed commisioned officers to fly the Mohawk?

It seems that the Pentagon figured that a Warrant Officer could not handle three pieces of tail that close together!! :lol:

Umm, Skymstr? Don't tell that hoodoo tale to all the CW2s, CW3s and CW4s that flew them in Germany, Korea, Iraq, and other pleasant places in the world.... Most all of our OV-1s in 2nd MI Bn (AE) were flown by Warrant Officers....:wink:
