Appears that it is being readied to be set on a pole as a memorial someplace.

Its sitting on a steel frame attached to the fuselage.

GEEZ...You're both wrong. That long, square thing is a giant JATO bottle and it's sitting on it's launching rail. Don't youse troops know nuttin' 'bout airoplanes?

Mudge the expert :hide:

It's an OV-1D Mohawk sitting on steel girders after being painted, prior to be put on a display mount. The "pod" is actually a SLAR antenna (called a "SLAR boom"). Oddly enough, the only country currently operating the OV-1 (minus SLAR antenna) is Argentina...

Were you aware that the US Army only allowed commisioned officers to fly the Mohawk?

It seems that the Pentagon figured that a Warrant Officer could not handle three pieces of tail that close together!!

Umm, Skymstr? Don't tell that hoodoo tale to all the CW2s, CW3s and CW4s that flew them in Germany, Korea, Iraq, and other pleasant places in the world.... Most all of our OV-1s in 2nd MI Bn (AE) were flown by Warrant Officers....
