F4 PHANTOM PROJECT. Aircraft 142260, the second aircraft built. 1st crashed at Edwards AFB. The second aircraft was used to set three world records. World record for speed 1,606 mph established 22 Nov. 1961. A new world record for altitude 96,556 feet set on 6 Dec. 1959. And a third record for sustained flight at altitude.
The project includes the fuselage from nose to rudder assembly, documents, photos, books, manuals and record-breaking test data relating to this aircraft.
Other major structures and parts have been located in Southern California to complete the restoration of this aircraft.
