KAL AERO INVENTORY


ENGINES


1. T56A-426 Rolls Royce turbo prop. APPROXIMATELY 4500 HP. Used on Military transport aircraft. Complete on a roll-around stand. Appears unused since overhaul. $50K.

2. Pratt & Whitney R2800 Engine assembly. Approximately 2000 HP 630 hours since major overhaul. 2000 hours TBO. With accessories. FAA certs. $15,000.

3. Pratt & Whitney R1830 -94 engines. Three each. Ex forestry units removed for turbine upgrade. Excellent spare power for many applications. $10K each.

AIRFRAME PARTS AND MISCELLANEOUS


1. B-24 & PB4Y AIRCRAFT STRUCTURES. Two forward fuselage assemblies (nose sections). Center fuselage section, tail section. Approximately 60 feet of fuselage, nose to tail.


2. B-24 & PB4Y engine assemblies. Motors, mounts and cowling in assemblies.

3. PB4Y landing gear assemblies. Unused since Navy overhaul.

4. Parts and assemblies for the B-24 and PB4Y aircraft. Flaps, upper turret and lower turret sections, Hydraulics, plexiglass for the cockpit and nose sections, B-24D type, etc., etc. Package price: $95K



OTHER AIRFRAME STRUCTURES.


F4 PHANTOM PROJECT. Aircraft 142260, the second aircraft built. 1st crashed at Edwards AFB. The second aircraft was used to set three world records. World record for speed 1,606 mph established 22 Nov. 1961. A new world record for altitude 96,556 feet set on 6 Dec. 1959. And a third record for sustained flight at altitude.


The project includes the fuselage from nose to rudder assembly, documents, photos, books, manuals and record-breaking test data relating to this aircraft.

Other major structures and parts have been located in Southern California to complete the restoration of this aircraft.

Records on file in Paris to document these world records. Package: $65K.

A-6 INTRUDER AIRFRAME INVENTORY. Surplus material purchased from NAS Alameda. Main wing assemblies. Landing gear sets. Main fuel cells. Flap assemblies. Speed brakes. Engine door assembly. Flaperon, pylon, etc. Parts are new, overhauled & used serviceable in Government crates. Package $25K.


PROPELLERS:


1. Hamilton Standard 4 bladed assembly that fits the R-2800 motor. New or new overhauled in Govt. crate. $2500.

2. C-130 type propeller assembly. Assembly in Govt. crate. $2K.

3. Propeller SPA9-200. Rare Aeroproducts propeller blades. Scimitar style. Some corrosion in steel butt area, may be repairable. $3K.


MISCELLANEOUS PARTS AND ASSEMBLIES:

1. T33 engine stand. Govt. surplus. $1K.

2. Bristol Centaurus engine stand. Govt. surplus. $1K.

3. J57, J79 type engine trailer. Govt. surplus. $1K.

4. Various hydraulic carts for servicing aircraft. Govt. surplus. $1K.

5. Electrical generator cart aircraft. Govt. surplus. $1K.

I agree woth Rob,
The F-4 would be the best deal because it's the oldest extant and it has an interesting history. It could make a great display inside a museum. How many people are really looking for a flyer?
The pb4y/ B-24 parts mayt or may not be that valuanble . Is anyone restoring either of these types currently?
The R-2800 and the other engines need the dash number attached. There are a lot of boat anchors out there.

Sorry for my ignorance guys

But what exactly is KAL Aero? A restore, collector or?

I see the location is Dulzura, I understand that this is a place not far from San Diego and the Mexican border?

Anything of interest lying around at that place? I see there are some Liberator parts and engines offered for sale, so I was wondering if there would be anything else?

Any photos?

There's one under rebuild (to static) in Australia, but I don't think they are hurting for parts, or feeling rich either.

I'm a bit surprised that the F-4 hasn't gone quicker - the historical pedigree being what it is - of course it sounds like all you'd get is a fuselage and in times like these 65K is a pile of cash unless you're flush to begin with.

Dulzura, CA is a very interesting drive from El Cajon. I failed to find any airfields nearby, which leads me to believe that KalAero is probably a barn or a metal structure; the terrain is broken, but I repeat, a very nice drive.

If you follow that road, you will be driving very close to the US-Mexican border in the Tecate area; if you make it as far as Jacumba, there is a hotel and spa in that little town, that serves the BEST breakfast [don't forget to ask for Jacumba fries] that I have had in a very long time.

Ed was a drag racer that got into flying cargo to pay for and keep racing. He managed to build up one of the largest privately owned cargo movers in the world. They specialize in handling cargo that virtually no one else in the world will....such as Formula 1 cars, multimillion dollar race horses, all kinds of exotic wildlife requiring specialized care and so on. If I remember correctly, at one time they had something like 350 aircraft in their inventory, rangeing from Cessna 400 series all the way to 747-SP's.

Someone is confusing Ed Kaletta with Connie Kaletta of Ypsilanti, MI. The two are not related in works or deeds. Connie is a very reputable person with a very reputable business. His business is still growing, not shutting down. The Calif. Kaletta is closing his business and selling off his inventory. Be careful as there are no refunds even if the items are not as described.

I believe your getting Ed mixed up with Connie Kalitta. Also there was another Kal Aero Inc that was founded by John Ellis in Kalamazoo & Battle Creek Michigan, which was aquired by Duncan Aviation. :)

HI ED RESTORED THE P-38 RECOVERED FROM ITS ALASKA CRASH SITE AND IS NOW ON DISPLAY AT HILL AIR FORCE BASE IN OGDEN UTAH.THE B-24 WAS ALSO RECOVERED FROM ITS ALASKA WARTIME WRECK SITE.IT IS VERY CLOSE TO FINISHED AND WILL ALSO BE DISPLAYED AT HILL FIELD.THE MUSEUMS GIFT SHOP HAS VIDEOS OF BOTH RECOVERYS.BOTH A/C WERE RECOVERED BY HILL AIR FORCE BASES CRASH RECOVERY SQUADRON.THIS IS THE SAME SQUADRON THAT ASSISTED IN THE A-25 RECOVERY FROM BLACK ROCK CANYON WEST OF SALT LAKE CITY .THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR BUSINESS!!AS FAR AS I KNOW ED WAS NEVER INTO DRAG RACING THAT WOULD BE CONNIE.YOU MAY REMEMBER HIM AS THE GUY THAT MADE CHA CHA SHIRLY MULDOWNY SP?THE FAMOUS TOP FUEL DRIVER.ED HAS ALWAYS BEEN IN THE AIR CARGO BIZ THANKS MIKE

I'll plead a lack of sleep leading to brain outgassifications on this one. As much as I used to follow drag racing I'm not sure how I could get the entire batch of name and companies intermixed like I did.
