Back on topic, we've had this discussion before... My vote from a cost standpoint was an L-5. But if we can make the Syndicate work, a C-46 ot C-47 may be possible.

anything long range and large that can make around the world tours, and joyflights as well during them, so the members of WIX can see all the hard to get to museums and collections etc has got to be a certainty for my vote.
despite that I think that a nice easily maintained aircraft capable of 3 or 4 minimum passengers with sufficient range to promote the syndicate at various airshows ( more members might equal more aircraft ) and a good spares availability would be the best starting point so, a C47 does look like a good first bet.

Have I got the 'plane for you, a Bristol 170 Freighter mk.31.
You can have ZK-EPG (ex.NZ5911) complete with about 5 40foot containers of spares including engines, new tyres, flying surfaces, etc.etc.etc..........
-This a/c type has a combat pedigree with the RNZAF (Borneo, Malaya, Vietnam, and the Indonesians shot one full of holes) and most people don't realise that an RNZAF B.170 was the last fixed wing military a/c out of Siagon on April 21 1975.
-Its got round 2000hp engines (hercules).
-Its green.
-The last flying example in the world retired several months ago.
-It carries 20 pax.
-Pull the seats out and you can carry projects home.
-EPG has the lowest airframe hours out of all the survivours.
-No retractable u/c to worry about and maintain
-Its U-G-L-Y! (in a good way).....one American wag was heard to quote, "Is that the airplane or the box it came in?"
