Hi all

as promised, some gems from my collection

here a collection of photographs taken in Fall 1945 at BAD-1 Burtonwood, England (BAD = Base Air Depot) - among hundreds of bombers and other fighter types - this also was the killing field for many proud P-51 veterans of the 8th & 9th AAF...

The first shots show various P-51's taxying - they have just finished their last flight....

the end of the line - three views of P-51's from various units being torn apart..... mainly 353rd FG, but also 4th FG, 78th FG and 359th FG

I am impressed that someone thought to document the scrapping. It stinks the planes were chopped up, but atleast someone had the good idea to take pictures.

Thanks for sharing!
