To continue this blatant thread hijacking. . .

The Greatest Generation Aircraft guys (B-25 Pacific Prowler, C-49J Southern Cross, B-26K Special K, et al) have acquired a bunch of CG-4 remains from somewhere in west Texas (perhaps from the glider museum?) and their intention is to build up a flying CG-4 and perhaps tow it aloft with Southern Cross. Time will tell, but the CG-4's cockpit frame was looking pretty good two weekends ago. . .

Actually, the owners really wanted it done up in 357th FG colors with the red and yellow nose checks and "Glamous G_____ III" on the side!

As far as the comments go, The props will get their do over when the time comes.
It will be at OSH for those who are going.
In a few years it is planned to go to the UK with the owner.

Eventually, the owner wants to take it back to the UK with him.

It should be there when EAA's B-17 stops by, but there is a chance it might go that weekend to the Pease Show in New Hampshire.

What kind of hoops would they have to jump through with the FAA to certify and register a CG-4A for flight?

No different than anything else. If it was a rebuilt with an 'original' identity, it would probably be Restricted, if it were 100% new it would be registered like any other homebuilt.

1) Thanks for more pics of a fantastic C-47! Does the inside look as great as the outside?

2) Can someone please explain to me what legal basis exists (if any) that would give Gen. Reager standing to complain about a name painted on a US gubment aircraft while he was in gubment service 60+ years ago? I understand the temerity of a mom & pop decal shop wanted to avoid any potential fights with said retired General, but in real terms, what could happen here besides a few strongly worded letters if someone made airplane model decals with a couple of well placed "g"s in them? I know we have a few law talking types on this thread, so I'd appreciate their input (if it's informed). The silliness with this issue seems extraordinarily strong to me.

I can't comment on the "Reager" thing, as I might get sued for using an historical figures name, but the interior of the C-47 is still cargo, no troop seats yet, but it currently has eight first class, leather airliner seats. Nice ride though!

Thanks for the interior intel Jerry! I'm jealous you've had a chance to check it out!

And as for Reager...I'm going to wait for an explanation of actual grounds for a claim against a decal manufacturer. I get that he may be irked by people making money off his name in one fashion or another. But the fact that someone making decals depicting a plane used in govt service ages ago for a kids toy is actively going out of their way not to offend tells me this is complete bullshizzy. I'd love to read the complaint on that one.

A tale for another time I suppose.
