I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who chucked some money into the til. You have no idea how much I appreciate it.
Enough money was sent to enable me to send the computer to a shop for repairs and just got it back a couple of hours ago.
I'm now up and running and will be back to updating the site immediately (actually already added an update for Forgotten Jets
http://forgottenjets.warbirdsresourcegroup.org/F8U.html)
I just want to let you guys know that it's this community support that helps keep this site going. While I would like to be able to do this full time, we at least bring in enough revenue to cover the majority of operating expenses. I don't make money off the site (occasionally I have income surplus to by a book)
To clarify things, this site is not a non-profit. I would like to be able to support my family with the site and that would allow me to continue the 10-12 days I spend on the site (at least while I'm unemployed).
I want your opinion on this. Am I nuts? Am I selfish?
I don't want to sound unappreciative, I truly appreciate the support I receive (both the direct contributions and the 12 paypal and 2 patreon subscribers). But should I even consider trying to get the site to a level that I can make a living? Is it a pipe dream?
Let me know what you think.
