The WWII Airborne Demonstration Team just took delivery of our "new" C-47. The plane just successfully completed its ferry flight from Atlanta to Frederick Army Airfield, in Frederick Oklahoma.
As you all know it's going to take a little bit of elbow grease to get it configured to suit our purposes, but we will get it there.
There are some photos posted here

You can read more about our team and mission here.

If you are in northern Texas, we're not too far from Sheppard AFB.
You're invited to drop by during a training weekend!
Thanks!
Mark

Nice lookin' Gooney. You don't see too many Wright-engine models..is she an original DC-3 (as opposed to a military C-47?)

Interesting history with that airplane and the little mod that they put on it. :)

Congratulations on acquiring it!

I saw it when it was at the Kissimmee Airport in Florida a few years ago. I am glad that it is in a good ome.

Must have been a hell of a deal for them and not find one that actually served in combat.

Thanks for the kind words guys.
I was not directly involved in the acquisition of the AC, but I'm pretty sure that it was the best candidate of the planes that we knew were available.
Hopefully we'll keep her airborne for another 60+ years!!

Hi Jeff,
I was supposed to be there, but when I heard it was a no-go, I cancelled my plane ticket.
I think the weather was bad regardless.

Ok,
Our Military Vehicle club hauled your crew around for the weekend. Thought I might have met you.

Good luck with the 3.

NENjeff,

I was in Burlington last year. Many thanks for getting us from place to place, it was a lot of fun!

I've posted a video of the arrival of the DC-3 in Frederick on YouTube for those of you that like the Gooney. The url is:

I'm happy to announce that we have also just aquired the C-47A that we have been using for the past several years.
Now we will be operating 2 DC-3/C-47s. Formation jumps are in our near future.
This could not have happened without the generosity and cooperation of Bruce O'brien, Ray Cunningham, and Paul Rasys.
As always we are on the lookout for Pilots, mechanics, crew, sponsors, and of course jumpers.
More info will be published on our website soon.
