Yeah flywheel effect would help, but you have to remember even that is going through gearing and that really isn't a good thing for a flywheel, and at low rpm it probably hinders some too because of gearing backlash.
Well if you watch the long version where he runs it at the meeting, he is priming with what looks like a bottle down the carburetor. And obviously the throttle is barely open, the problem is lack of prime, its a long ways down those intake manifolds, and hardly enough gas too boot.
I guess he's standing so far off because of fear of an induction explosion, has there ever been a case of that? If so all single engine radial aircraft would be prime candidates for the same.
He is obviously not concerned about wrecking it. First time I saw it I was wondering if it even had oil supply.
