NMUSAF Update

I am heading over there in the morning, but I found out that the marking on the C-47 have been changed, and that the 707 Air Force One is off display. Also in an attempt to be more authentic, the straight wing F-84 has been moved to the shop where the silver paint will be removed and a NMF will be placed on it. The Beaufighters control surfaces are done, and hung finally. Now I need to find out about the ball turret on the B-24 and see if it was placed in it or not yet.

As always some neat stuff happening at the museum. Hopefully the F-84E will now also carry unit markings. Now if the B-36 could get the 95th Bomb Wing markings repainted as well!

Make sure you thank the "powers that be" for "flexing their muscles" (ie. lawyers) to take the twin Mustang away from the CAF. :evil:

Mudge, that is not what happened. The NMUSAF went to the CAF and told them we own the aircraft and want you to place it on static only. The first two times they tried to approach the CAF about it, the CAF said, "Stuff it in your ear". And yes that is a quote. Well the NMUSAF won, and now they are being painted as the bad guy. I don't feel that is right.

From the CAF perspective though, If your neighbor came to my house and said that I couldnt drive my own car and claimed that they owned it, I would tell them much worse than "stuff it in your ear".

A little more info on the Keystone LB-7 remains supposedly held by the museum - maybe you can jog someone's memory? to finally confirm or deny?

What are the new markings on the C-47? Seems to me the D-Day paint scheme was about as iconic as they come. I do think the aircraft looks a bit odd displayed with the tail elevated..but I suppose is allows maximum use of the available floor space.

How come every time Chris takes the time to post some info about the Museum, it turns into an attack on Museum policies that forces Chris into a defensive position? How about we just let him post his info without it turning into a museum "bashing" game. Just my two cents...
