--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi Just reading the latest flypast about Jerry's aircraft and there is a very interesting article in there about some static aircraft he has for Swapping. He doesn't want to sell them - rather exchange or swap them. The aircraft mentioned here raise some interesting questions and answer some others.

To be specific the aircraft and my comments are as follows - I would appreciate the views of others here

1) Bell P39 Q - I wonder which one this is - Jerry has an airworthy rebuild on at Wangarratta in Australia - I wonder if they are also doing a static rebuild or if this is a stored ex PNG machine from the Talichet days from Tadji and is to be exchanged unrestored.

2) Bell P400 - Again I only have data on 3 of these and am unsure which one it is - two are reported as wrecks / derelict in PNG and one in the same state in the US

3)Douglas A 20 Havoc - I assume this is his US based project which he is now disposing of as Murray Griffiths at Wangarratta is building one of the Ex RAAF recoveries ?

4) Fairey Firefly Mk 1 - Obviously one of the several (2 or 4?) He aquired in Soputh Africa Ex Ethopia - Now in NZ ? ai Av Specs - Will it be refurbished before exchange?

5) NA F86 Sabre 2X Restored and 3X Unrestored - all at Av Specs in NZ?

6) Me 109 G - Mystery here although I have a theory - any ideas?

7) Polikarpov I-16 Rata - Which one ?

Again as I said this is quite a little repositeory and is a great initative by Jerry so I would love to tease out the details.

Over to you

Regards
John P

On the Fighter Factory web site it has an A-26 for trade, could that be it?

I think there may be some Miss IDs on the list. Some seem too close in type and description to what is referred too on this page (i.e. P-39 = P-63, A-20 = A-26, But I have been wrong may times before)

The list in Flypast makes reference to P40, P39 AND P63 so I think they meant all 3 types - I had also heard that he did have an A20 in the US so I wouldn't be surprised if there was one of those too.

I read somewhere (I think it was preservedaxisaircraft.com) that the 109 is actually the former USAFM Hispano thats being converted with a DB engine. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes Jerry has that under conversion in Germany, but also has a couple of 109s an Emil under rebuild in Russia along with a G-2 and part ownership of a G-6.
