I need help in finding specific WWII USN and USMC Regulations regarding the application of nose art on aircraft. I found AAF Regulation 35-22 dated August 1944 but nothing so far regarding the Navy and Marines.

Not that this is any help but the 509th had a couple of issues with the Navy regarding the application of nose art. Specifically the B-29 "Up and Atom" - the nose art was totally nude to begin with, then partially covered with a scarf around the waist/groin, then "dressed" to fully cover most of the torso per some Admiral's direction.

...or his wife, in my experience. This has nothing to do with aircraft, but
everything to do with Admirals. Tied up to the tender at Pt. Loma we were
working within the superstructure of das-boat on one unusually HOT
San Diego morning and it was killing us. I'd had enough and told the lads
we were going below to change into our Navy-issue swim trunks and T's.
We did that and things were then manageable "in the black oven". We
were moving along nicely, until one of our Ensigns shows up inquiring why
we're working in our underwear. I explain the issues and facts of the light-
tan gear we're wearing..and away the E goes to make a call to
"the hill"...SubGru5 resided and officed up the hill overlooking the base.

'bout 15 later the XO comes up making the same inquiry. Again, I report
same. XO retorts, "Well I've just recieved a particularly irate phone call
from the Admirals Wife and SHE THINKS THEY'RE UNDERWEAR...YOU !@#
*%& GET Y'ER ^^/^^/^^'s BELOW AND CHANGE TO DUNGAREES!!!"

Began to ask why SHE couldn't "get it", but his complexion altered..
Whew...touchy..touchy.. One of my earliest adverse experiences with
military intelligence...'tis better to burn in h*ll...than to offend the boss's
wife! :? Hazard Pay could never be enough on some days....

Maybe Mrs. Roosevelt's directive. I don't recall an aircraft with her mug on it. :P

I'll keep looking

If you do find one with Eleanor's picture on it, please don't post it. :D

A hidden piece of history applied to the nose of a bomber with the name The President's Nag. Just think of it!

Here's a good WW2 joke:
Franklin Roosevelt spots Winston Churchill coming out of Eleanor's bedroom.
Franklin says," Winston, I don't ever want to see that again!!"
Winston: "NEITHER DO I!!!!!"

Knowing Churchill’s humor, I would say he wrote that one.

I saw a book a long time ago about nose art (forgot the title); some of the stuff on 29s you would probably get in trouble posting here.

There is a book I keep debating on buying called "For the Boys-pinup art of World War II" (I think) that is a huge coffee table book strictly on nose art - price isn't a factor as much as the wife and small children are.

I used to have the book "Classy Chassy" (sp?) that my mother bought for me but my wife threw it away when we got married.
