I met Dave a few years ago on a trip to the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
We stopped and asked a question about the Corsair being restored and presto, come on in, have a look, climb around and take pics till your tired of it. Dave is a first class guy.
I have a ton of pics if anyone is interested.
I must say, I have had nothing but great experiences going to museums in England.
Ask a fairly intelligent question and the people I have met stopped in thier tracks and helped you to find an answer. Whether it be opening up an a/c, climbing behind the ropes, opening up the archives or calling the Head Currator (sp?). I've always received a SUPER effort to get the job done.
On the other hand, here in the States I've run into idiots that don't know an A/C from a Tank.
I've seen what looked like a Teenager working at the old Champlin Fighter Museum not let an ex-Luftwaffe FW-190D pilot step past the rope to get a better pic. Ofcourse the Teen had no interest in the ex-Luft. pilot or what a FW-190D was.
Regards,
Mike
