Rob .... well spoken ...

It's a shame that this venue has to be used/misused to further politcal gains.

I will be 75 come my next birthday and well remember much about WWII. I could spend hours here talking of neighbors and relatives who served so gallantly and some who lost their lives.

As Rob so elequently pointed out, our problem begins in Washington. I say it's a Congress who has one main agenda, their own re-election and keeping a full barrel of pork.

As I walk the Modern Flight Gallery at the Air Force Museum as a volunteer, I do so with pride and honor as I represent all the generations of our military. Along side of me on many occasions is a gentleman who was a nose gunner on a B-24 flying with the 14th Af out of China. What a lesson in history.

Unfortunately, the profiles on this site gives little information. In reading the various posts, both ways, I can't help but wonder ... how many have worn the uniform of our country in a foreign land .... In looking back, I wonder what might have happened had General MacArthur not be held back for what I consider political reasons.

I spent 23 years working in New York Cilty at 120 Broadway and from my window I watched them build the World Trade Center. In addtion, I arrived by Path below the Trade Center and left the same way come evening. It wasn't pleasant watching it come down on TV.

Finally, keep in mind,

Rob,

That's the most intelligent post I've read in this "Off-Topic" forum. Very well said.

Every decision surrounding this war is based firstly on the perspective of "Republican vs. Democrat" rather than on that of "Free World vs. Radical Islam".

Well, comparing WWII and this war, a lot of Americans come from Europe and far less come from the Middle East. Most of us have the same religion or culture and understand each other. Most of the Middle Eastern inhabitants don't understand the US or Europe and don't want to. There is no radical Islam there, we call it radical but they call it normal. It is their way of living and it is too different from ours.

Why even write about the losses from the war? It would be easy to be patriotic following the party line, and since most people love Spitfires I get praise for flying and maintaining it more than is due. Obviously, it is because I think this is vital. Maybe, just maybe, my one voice added to the many others might cause someone to rethink their veiws, their next vote. The lives and limbs of these young people is what I care about. Probably more than half my life we have been involved in some war. Maybe the cause was just, maybe not, but one constant is the slaughter of young people, all too often in wars started by old guys who never had the guts for combat( LBJ,Nixon, Cheney, Bush) but are real brave with other peoples sons and even daughters. Everyone, pro or anti should go on the site on Wix Hangar "Memorial Day", where Shay has posted the link showing Moms and Wives and small children in deeepest sorrow at the funeral of their loved ones. A 6 year old boy doesn't know how brave it is to "nuke em all", he knows his Dad is gone or even worse his Mom.

Bill you say one thing and do another. This all sounds swell from a Person who Verbaly abused a mentaly challenged line guy at a texas airshow to the point of tears.. Not to mention offending our brothers from latin america. Ya your a real nice guy. Bill I get alot of Emails about you... Like someone changed the frequencies so you couldn't join up a formation at a airshow. Do you ever wonder why your left off flight schedules? Think about it.
