It's bad luck to rename a ship or plane...... I would have left well enough alone.. I agree with Phil. Maybe they are going to suprise us and bring Diamond Lil back sexier that ever! I think I would paint it after this 927 thing would be

"Diamond LIL"
Perhaps you're making my point and don't even realize it.
Ol' 927 is what this airplane was called originally. Not Diamond Lil.
Diamond Lil was a made up name that has ZERO historical significance to this airplane. I think everyone here is certainly entitled to their opinion(s), but it's funny that you're saying that you want something that's not made up in one post, yet you want Diamond Lil back on another.
Phil K...I agree that the noseart we chose isn't historically correct for this airplane. I've mentioned that many times on the other thread now. However, the elected staff of our squadron felt that we needed this artwork to make the airplane more marketable to the general public...and sadly, they're probably right, since the general public typically cares very little about historical accuracy. So a compromise was chosen. We decided to use the accurate name of this aircraft, with artwork that could sell t-shirts. I think all in all, it's going to work out. Please feel free to continue to dislike it, but try to understand why the staff chose what they chose.
RyanShort...Even though this thread has gotten somewhat off of the topic you intended, I very much appreciate you taking it off of the B-24 thread, as this subject is certainly distracting to anyone wanting to learn more about how we do the work we're doing to that ol' jalopy.
