MAAM updated their website to show the initial roster for the WWII Days event the first weekend in June. A lot of "regulars", but it looks like Tom Duffy is planning to bring "No Guts No Glory" and hopefully the Russell group will get their planes down this year. Perhaps most notable to us photo buffs is the crowd line orientation. They are planning to move the show line to the north south runway which they state will be more photo friendly. Let's hope the sun makes an appearance this year.

Changing the show line notwithstanding, if I get people pushing their way up to the fence in front of us after we've "established position" there's gonna' be some harsh language used to alert them to the fact that they're being freaking RUDE. I'm tired of the inconsiderate bastids who think they can only get pictures by standing up and IN FRONT OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE INVESTED THE TIME AND EFFORT TO GET THERE EARLY ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SEE SOMETHING.

I'm excited since now I might actually get to see more of the flying display!
Our display, American Military Medical Impressions WWII Field Hospital, is right behind the new show line, so if any of you want a tour, or to get out of the sun, come on over and look me up.

That is cool that the line will be changed, it was not good before. It is cool to see Tom's new P-47 coming, I look forward to seeing that fly.

Is the MAAM TBM-3E still flying or was it only flown for the airshow a couple years ago? I was a bit disappointed to see it not fly last year.

Tim

i like the changing of the flightline. i always thought the neatest part of KRDG was watching the planes coming in against those hills. My dad always said that it reminded him of his base in vietnam (hint, hint MAAM). I am wondering if that hangar that sorta sits out in the middle of the field is going to be a big obstruction.

PS I had a dream last night that I was walking around a B-24A at MAAM. Gary tell me i am psychic, and not just your typical obsessor.

Odd to see the Russell Hurri and 109 listed but not the Spitfire; usually they appear as a trio. Anyone know what's up with that?

I haven't heard a word about us going to their airshow this year. However, I also don't get too involved with our scheduling (on purpose). I don't have a clue where we'll be going this year. I'm sure we'll all find out soon though.

And how about the Pagoda over in the hills as well. I've gotten some great shots of the Tora aircraft on approach with it in the background. I'm looking forward to the show this year and the new flight line.

Oh and I wonder if the ufo will make a repeat appearence? At the '01 show I missed my chance to get it on video as I was glued to Jim Beasly's acro routine in Frenenesi at the time. But on the audio some people standing next to me were talking about it. :)

Shape: Egg
Duration:15 minutes
Saw a white grocery bag like object climb to over 10,000ft with a smaller white object trailing the larger one to the SW.

While at the Reading WWII reinactment, we were watching, with binoculars, several aircraft doing flybys. As we looked to the SW, I spotted what looked at first like a white balloon being carried upwards very rapidly. The cloud deck was at about 8,oooft and the object went above them to about 10,000ft and then hovered as if caught in an air pocket. Several other people thought it looked like a grocery type white bag, but there was a smaller piece of a white object that we saw traveling along with the larger "bag". It looked unattached. After about 15 minutes of being "motionless" the objects started to climb higher until they were out of site to the SW. About 25 people around us saw and watched the objects climb. I've been to many airshows over the years and never saw anything like this before - it definetly was not a balloon. I was monitoring the radio freqs of the airport, but nothing was mentioned about the object.

((NUFORC Note: We would welcome additional reports from other witnesses to this incident. It does seem odd to us that a simple bag, containing either hot air or helium, would continue to rise so far in such a short period of time, rise above the clouds, and then continue to rise out of sight. PD))

I'm sure that the Saturnians just wanted to check out how the P-61 was coming.
