hi guys
i'm hoping someone here might be able to help me here. i'm trying to find out what gave the Mustang with the merlin engine its distinctive wailing sound. was it the supercharger the intake under the fuselage or something else.

Steve,

The 'whine' or whistle that you hear on some P51's is from the unsealed gunports.

Aircraft that have them sealed don't make that noise!
