I know that it is not based on a true story, but I think that it might be cool. I mean when you think of it, the Rutans kind of did the same thing.

Check out "Rocket's Red Glare", a TV movie from 2000. A similar premise, but includes a rescue of the space shuttle using the Redstone rocket and a young boy!
