I'm not sure what the guy under the engines reaching up was doing, but the guy in the foreground with the thumbs up then thumbs down hand signals was telling the pilot that the prime for the engines was dripping out the over flow underneath and hence, the engine was ready to start.

While looking for some serial #s yesterday on Joe Baugher's site I noted a large quantity of fighters destroyed by a PB4Y-1 in 1944. When I looked up the culprit a/c I found that he probarbly did more damage in one go than any Japanese attack.. :shock:

38766 (VB-116, ex USAAF 44-40348) swerved off runway on takeoff
from NAB Eniwetok, South Pacific and
crashed into parked aircraft while carrying
nine 500-lb bombs, destroying 106 naval
aircraft 8/9/1944. 9 killed, 2 injured.
