I think the P-51 H is the coolest in the series. That longer belly looks a lot sleeker than the one on the "D". If you have more pics of lightweight Mustang, please post them.

I think those are sharp looking paint schemes.

Many, many thanks Martyn. I had been looking for that P-51H of the AZ ANG for a long time.

I've never been much of an H-model fan (it just looks stumpy to me), but those are damned attractive schemes. I really like that T-6 as well... thanks Martin! :)

I'd love to see some AZ-ANG P-51D Mustangs if you've got the pics.

Funny, I was just thinking how the "H" model has never tickled my fancy.

There is something odd about it; the lines -I feel- are not as graceful as the other Mustangs are- and I believe that the landing gear and doors are what makes it look odd.

This is daydreaming of course, but if I was presented with the opportunity of owning an "H" model, I would swap it for a "D" any single day; that's how much the "H" doesn't do it for me : )

Saludos,

Tulio

I thought the same thing when reading the article on Tempus Fugit in Warbird Digest about it's conversion from a D to an H model. "Why would they want to do that??!!! I wouldn't complain if I had an H though... ;)

cool pics.

two more b/w-shots (originals in my collection) - same NM ANG birds, different views:

"Tempus Fugit" was a P-51D converted to a TF-51, not a "H" model. The TF-51 has a sort of "H" model (tall) tail installed.

the p-51 -h looks like it had a bad case of liposuction :vom:
