Hey Martin, love the Air Guard Stuff! The Colonel was wondering if you had any Maineiacs(MEANG) F-47s? Either way keep up the good work!

Thanks for the images Martin of the Minnesota birds as well as the 179th.
One more that's a long shot but ya never know
Also from Earl Miller, showing him next to some honcho's bird from the 179th.
It was a tiny photo that I scanned and blew up as best I could 5 Japanese kill markings from what I can see and clearly marked much fancier then the normal 179th bird. Curious if you've ever come across a photo of one marked his way?
Not sure if those are camera markings as well as bomb symbols below the cockpit but some sort of mission markings.

interesting ship, indeed.... I've added it to my 'pendings' list

at first glance this seems to be a 'flagship' (CO's aircraft).... and possibly taken in postwar Germany during occupation....

Great photos. Do you have anything in PA ANG colors? I am working on putting a P-51D in markings of the PA ANG that was based in Pittsburgh. The aircraft is already at KPIT.

Thank you very much for posting those pics. I am building a model of this aircraft from the Kentucky ANG, should you happen to have any pics of it?
Your pics answered some questions and posed some new ones. A lot of the props seemed to be uncuffed, whereas the kit comes with cuffed prop blades. Also, a lot of the fuselages seemed to be filled and painted wings with dull bare metal fuselages, wheras the instructions lead you to believe that it was painted silver overall.

Jens...
this KY ANG ship is on my website (you need to scroll down, it's the last photo before the RCAF section).... I have look look for the photo in my archives for a better, bigger scan...
http://www.swissmustangs.ch/20214/20268.html
as for the props - post WW2 - many P-51's, or later F-51's, received HS 24D50-105 (uncuffed) props as replacment for the standad HS 24D50-87 (cuffed) - these -105 blades also were known as 'paddle-blade props'.
As for the paint-schemes.... ANG units received their aircraft from storage where these a/c saw IRAN before delivery, which als included the fuselages to be painted - same goes for most a/c deployed to the Korean War....
