This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

Hey all,
I was browsing through the "Wix gatherings" postings, and didn't see much in the way of West Coast gatherings.
I'd like to know how many Wixers we've got from the BC, Alberta, Washington, and the Oregon area. And any areas close by.
If there's a decent amount we should plan on meeting up sometime at an airshow somewhere. Maybe the Arlington Airshow? Or any suggestions??? Glenn, Stephanie, Brian, Sim, etc, you in?
So, anyone from around the "Wet Coast" let's hear from you. We shouldn't let the Easterners to have all the fun.
Cheers,
David

Since when does the west coast not include anyplace south of Oregon?

Probably a typo; I'm sure he meant to say the Wet Coast...

Hey BDK,
I know the west coast includes more, but I'm just thinking locally at the moment. If a meeting were take place south of Oregon I'm not sure if I'd be able to make it, so I figured a meeting in the "Pacific North West" would be more appropriate. My car isn't the greatest cross country vehicle so going too far might be bad news.
Plus, Greg has a point. South of Oregon isn't too wet, and doesn't really fall under the "Wet Coast" name.
That's all. I'd love to hear from all the West Coast, but namely from people I am in driving (in a 1989 Mazda 323) distance from. If there's anyone from California, or anywhere else from that matter, interested in coming to a meet out this way, I'd like to hear from you.
Cheers,
David
P.S. Sorry for leaving out all you in Cali.

Well you can pretty much count me in. Was thinking about making a trip up to Gig Harbor soon, so maybe we can coordinate something.
I agree that the east coast WIXers shouldn't be having all the fun. Although it does give me an excuse to travel.

I'm in (schedule permitting). About Arlington, don't know what
the current situation is, but the local EAA warbird group (Cascade
Warbirds) haven't been attending that for the last 2 (3?) years...
If they open up Paul Allen's collection again during the EAA
show (before the collection moves to Paine Field), I'd like to
see it again. Last year we got to see the Heritage Collection's
P-47 fly with Bud Granley at the controls. I don't know who was
smiling more, those of us who got to watch the Jug fly from
the ground or Mr. Granley for getting to fly it... (likely the latter
I suspect!).

Well,
I was just getting a feeling for who might be interested. If that's the case with Arlington, does anyone know any good airshows for warbirds. Abbotsford is quite lack luster in that department.... Is there anything exciting in Oregon during the summer?
I know that every summer they're starting to have an airshow at Boundary Bay, but the amount of warbirds attending that are quite low right now. I'm going to try and help organize this years show, if they let me.
Give me a shout if you have any ideas for events or places to meet.
Cheers,
David

Olympia Airshow (Fly-in?) and Bellingham Airshow are always good for the local warbirds.

OK,
so I think I've found a good airshow to host a WIX meeting of the West.
The Olympia Warbird Fly-in. Below is a link for more info. It's currently not too informative, other than it saying it takes place in June:
http://www.olympicflightmuseum.com/events.htm
Here's a video that shows some of last years show. Ok, so it's more of an advertisement for the "Fraser Blues", but you get the idea:

Does this sound like a good one?
Cheers,
David
