T-28

Anyone know where a guy could get some old tires for a T-28 static display? Ability to hold air is the only requirement. Thanks.

Also, does anyone know what is involved in removing the entire canopy on a T-28?

Four bolts secure the front canopy to the trucks, three for the rear. You shouldn’t have to mess with the cable system. The windshield frame is held down with about a million fasteners (well, okay, a couple a dozen).

Sorry, no old tires here.

Maybe you could give C&J Sales in Camarillo, CA. a call?
(They do a lot of parts and servicing for T-28s and might have an old set of tires.)

Try Heritage Aero in Rockford IL. They do a lot of T-28 maintenance. Ask for Cliff. 815-395-0500.

I might have a set upstairs let me check, we went with Clevlands on our rebuild, I'll get back to you.

If its for static you might want to consider filling them with foam. It helps the tires not lose air over time.

Thanks guys. I realized later that the requirement for air holdability:?: isn't crucial since they will be filled with foam. I guess anything would work as long as they fit the rim. As far as I know this aircraft hasn't left a military base in it's lifetime so I am assuming it doesn't have the Cleveland wheels but I really don't know.
