Does anyone have any pictures of Fifi when it wore the all white scheme? I know I have seen them before on this site by my initial searches have turned up nothing. I'm working on a new repaint for flight sim.
Thanks
Eric

I don't think it was ever painted white. I was painted in various shades of grey over the years but I don't recall it in the CAF "house" white.

She was silver when I first saw her in '77, but when I saw next saw her around '90 / '91 she was painted a very light gray overall, and looking rather tired. The next time I saw her was in '94 after her refurbishment at Boeing, and she was silver again.
I'm sure Gary A. has more specific info...

I'll have to see what I can dig up, photo wise. Tim Savage might actually have some good pics of the airplane when it was really, really, light gray...or really, really, dark white.

Thanks Martin. I guess it could be a light grey or dark white. I was able to find the phot below on the Corbis site. You wouldn't believe all the pics of women named Fifi I have waded through doing a photo search.
Any additional photo would be appreciated.
Thanks

Here are a couple of photos of FIFI, one is in the light gray/white paint job, and the other is in the movie markings for "The Right Stuff".

John,
You know...I kinda like the paint scheme with the black uderside better. To me at least, it makes the plane look more like a combat vet, than the current pain scheme. But, that is just a personal view on my part

I personally like that black underside better myself.
Notice on that one picture above the "Right Stuff" paint scheme, they're in the middle of yet another engine change.

Just a quick question, Gary. I'm relatively new to this forum..how long have you been involved with Fifi and The Aircraft Formerly Known As Diamond Lil?
Just curious,
Steve (who also thinks the black belly scheme is cool!)

Not very long at all. I have been the Crew Chief for the B-29/B-24 Squadron since May 15, 2004. I spent that summer on tour with the airplanes, and moved to Midland that October, when we started the winter maintenance (and subsequent major airframe work) on FIFI.

Very nice work....and this for flight sim?

yep it's for Flight Sim 2004. I've done 17 other B-29 paint schemes. They can be found on avsim.com
