Super Snoopy and the Red Baron. Way cool but they changed the rules making mandatory pit stops eliminating any advantage they might have had. I *really* wanted to see those 2 planes making pylon turns! I did get to see the Connie back up with it reversing props and get out of it's parking spot.

Anybody know where that DC-7 and that Connie are today?
Jerry

The DC-7 ended up derelict in Beirut, Lebanon in the early 1970s. Last report I've read (from 1983) said that the 7 had possibly been scrapped around that time. The Connie was modified with a Concorde look-alike nose for a movie, which came to naught. It was scrapped around 1974!

How cool!

Years and years ago I remember doing a profile line drawing of what would've been a prime contender for Ollie's Reno H Division. No idea what became of the drawing (but I never throw anything away, so it's around somewhere!)...I remember it very well though. It was a Lancaster X, but:

*four Griffon 57s (Shack engines) spinning 8-bladed contraprops (Gannet)
*clipped wings with endplates (a la F2G #94)
*enlarged fins with squared trailing edges
*a large ventral fin fillet partially enclosing the tailwheel
*streamlined bullet nose (a la Lancastrian)
*tiny F1-style bubble canopy (a la Signal Sea Fury/Miss Merced)
*name "Victory" in Old English script on the nose
*sponsorship by Red Rose Tea
*race number 104 (since she was based on the then Toronto pylon one)

Cheers
