Invader markings

Sat Feb 17, 2007 8:23 pm

I'm about to repaint my B-26C Invader 44-35898 [former 'Tanker 2' C-FPGP to be VH-VNI] and am looking for the correct stencil markings to complete the job/ Any leads would be appreciated. New colours will be all- over silver as "Hollywood Hangover" 44-34553- this was a solid nose aircraft flown in Korea by 728th BS 452nd BW(L). Also any pics of the original would be helpful. 8)

Jack C., do you have any interesting photos of silver B-26's in Korea?

Any leads on new plexiglass for the rear gunner's compartment for my Invader. The current ones have been overpainted.

Randall,

You might want to try Aero Trader. I'm sure they replaced the glass during the "Hard To Get" restoration and now Kermit's restoration. They are probably making it themselves, but I can't think of anyone else who is. If you had a part number, I could do some searching for you.

Jack,

Could you PM me that e-mail also? I would love to see if he has anything on 44-35696 or just the 95th BG in general.

The book "Osprey - Frontline Colour 004 - B26 Invader Units over Korea" contains a few silver-painted Invader photos (and alot in the black colours).

I don't know if they are 100% correct, but Aeromaster is selling kit decals for the "Hollywood Hangover". See here: http://www.eaglestrikeproductions.com/c ... mg=ad48615 There is also a placement sheet with drawings of where the decals are supposed to go. As for their accuracy I don't know. Aeromaster was apparently known as "Errormaster" in its day, but has been said to have cleaned up their act. I think there are photos of "Hangover" in the Squadron Signal book "Air War Over Korea" (The one by Larry Davis from 1982. Don't know if the current one is similar!) and one or both of their "in action" books on the Invader. You can probarbly buy the "In Action" books here: http://www.hobbycentre.com.au/SQDSIG08.html

Here's to Hollywood, and a mighty hangover... (When you celebrate the new paint job!) :drink3:

:D

Thanks for the update. We think the color scheme for "Hollywood Hangover" is a good representitive scheme of a Korean War machine.
[looked at black , however way to hot for Down Under in summer!]

Any other 'unknown' fabulous machine might be worth a look before we go to the paint shop.
