B-17 crashsite in Iceland?

Hi guys,

I dont know if finding shims at crashsites is so great, I am more interested in the whole gun! haha

I recovered 3 complete M2 guns from a B-17 crashsite in Iceland last year. They are in a very good condition, due to them being under Ice for about 60 years. The B-17 'Cloister Easy' crashed there in a glacier in 1944, all 10 men surviving. I tracked some of the crew down, 12 years ago. Even some of the parkeizing is in perfect condition, with surface rust spots here and there. Only one of them has slight damaged to the barrel cooling jacket, easily repaired.

These guns will go on display in our future museum. I plan to leave the best conditioned gun as is, to show condition coming from the Ice.

I stopped in Reykjavik for fuel last year while flying a Beech 18 (3NM) to Denmark. I walked over to the museum and I saw the 50's that he mentioned. I was impressed by the condition of the guns. One especially looked like it was fully operational. I asked him if it was complete and he said that he wanted to shoot it but he didn't have any 50 cal ammo for it. I wish I could send him some!

One of the guns was a Frigidair and another one was a Colt Patent Firearms as I recall. I don't recall what the third one was.

I thought, at the time, he said that they were from the B-17E My Gal Sal that Gary Larkins recovered.

I have photos that I took of the guns and his museum but I can't post them as I am on the road right now. If you are interested I can post them when I get back.
