I think that cart is an M-1 bomb lift that has had framework welded to it. I have been told by several people that they never used a lifting device, and loaded bombs by hand from carts. Now I understand!

Any photos of Van or his a/c. I knew him for quite a while and he was a very nice fellow. He was the editor of our local paper. Mustang Jim and I did a couple flybys in the P-51 during his graveside services a couple of years ago. Van was a flight commander in the 4th FIW in Korea and downed 1 or 2 MIG-15s
