Thanks Digger. I am going to get it tonight. As for the Mustang, It was an ex-bolivia P-51. From wat I understand it was used as a parts plane for a few restoraions years ago. My friend bought the project and has but a goo deal of money to get it to where it is today, but there is a lot of work to be done on it yet.

Thanks for all the pro and con on where to get the videos. I haven't seen the tv show since it was prime time in the 60's (grade school for me). It's been several years since I saw the movie but I've joined Lone Star Flight Museum since then and there's one trivial bit I want to do a double take on.
Early in the movie Gen. Savage rode with the snafu crew in "Leper Colony".
He said, "I'll ride in the top turret". Seems like the context was that he was sitting behind them in a jump seat or something. I don't think so! Making an entire mission STANDING in the top turret would be a tiring ride indeed.
Need to get the set and re check that.

I agree– couple hours or so of stick time makes you a driver. Oh jeez I'm just kidding.

I took some aerobatic training from a guy named Tom Bent, he'd flown -51's during the war. As you do, we spent a much bigger amount of time talking about flying and he talked a lot about his experiences. He loved the -51 (he also said if you could land a Pitts you could land anything – I proved him wrong on that one, but that's another story, or two) and he recounted a tale of being on a training hop and getting bounced by a Corsair – of all things!– they went at it and Tom pulled too hard and all hell broke loose – it got so bad that he actually released his harness and was ready to go over the side when something happened that he recognized, and he recovered. It's great to learn from these guys and hopefully we can all pass this history on.

For sure skybolt. My name is also for the car that I have. A 1966 Mustang fastback. Although I cherish any time that I have in the P-51. Do you still have that 195 in your pic. That is a beauty.

Oh yeah, she's sitting in the hangar feeling neglected - only flown twice since December! When the weather was good (70º in January!) I was busy at work. When the weather is horrible, I'm good to go. Now that Spring is coming, it'll be blowing a million miles an hour, and I won't dare to take it out. (I'll happliy fly other people's planes though – I tow and fly gliders for a soaring club)
And btw, I cherish anytime I can even hear a -51, be it in person or on film.

Thanks. My first instructor was teaching me to fly in a Cessna C-170B. I loved that airplane. I also love your 195. I love to see the bunch of them that go to KOSH every year.

Back in the 80's I met Paul Burke (Col. Gallager) at an airshow and tipped a few too many pints with him. In the course of the evening I asked him why Robert Lansing (Gen Savage) was written out of the script of "TwelveO'Clock High"? He laughed and said the producer fired him for... ahem.... messing around with the producers girl friend! :lol:
