Warbird Information Exchange

I found this short video of Youtube and thought it was quite moving. The scenes are from the Band of Brothers series and the episode titled "We We Fight". It features the horrific scenes of the liberated death camp while played to Beethoven's string quartet in C-sharp minor.

I have the entire Band of Brothers collection on DVD. For those out there that have not seen the series I would highly encourage you to pick up a copy. It's money well spent!

I've got the DVDs as well..had it on tape before that, and have watched it all the way through several times. A definate must-have for anyone interested in WWII.

I just finished the book. I was surprised how much had been changed for the series, but I think they still managed to keep the integrity of the Easy Company, and honor the soldiers.

I really didn't notice that much was changed. What did you see? It is a great set. My wife got me the DVD set for Christmas a few years ago. I think I have watched 5 times all the way through. I also read both books by Dick Winters.

Not a lot, but some and characters were fictionalized a bit, and some events compressed, omitted, or consolidated for better pacing and drama. Like I said, nothing bad..they didn't butcher the story, just took the best elements to adapt the story for film. I'm not sure if Ambrose was involved in the screenplay or not..but I think they captured the spirit of the book quite well.

The Air Force museum is huge, but the most memorable thing I saw there was a simple striped shirt actually worn by one of the death camp inmates that survived.We have all seen them in newsreels, this was more so. The Vietnam POW display also hit me.

Stephen Ambrose died October 13th, 2002. The release date for Band of Brothers was September 9th, 2001. He was co-exectutive producer for the series.
