Yes, this never would have happened under Clinton's watch. They were too busy trying to nationalize health care and create scary new names for semi-automatic firearms.

...and your point is BDK? One was bleeding our nations military resources with benign neglect, the other is spilling the blood of our families with overt stupidity. Both were ignorant of the impending threat. These people are so far removed from the people they swear to serve and protect, but yet task us and ours, with paying for their blunders....in dollars and/or blood.
Remember Rumsfeld, "In and out in 6 months."

I don't want to turn this into another off-topic political discussion. I was only responding to someone else that also interjected politics off the subject of the thread. My apologies to everyone. PM me and I can tell you my point if you are still interested.

If I may remind everyone, the last time a military piece of equipiment was "stolen" and used for less than glorious purposes, it was an M-60 tank from a Military Installation. It was stolen by a member or the military. The Chinese have obtained a lot more than F-14 Burner cans from Los Alamos. The Gov't runs that too.

The Gov't had better get its own house in order before telling us how to keep ours.

the media always slants the facts with bad wording, in this case............ they were SEIZED from the owner. it makes the owners look like criminals automatically, & that they planned a subversive deal for evil intent. i doubt the a.t.f. or f.b.i. came in with swat gear, but that's what they paint it as. the media really :x really  sucks!!

I'm sure glad that someone from the govt is here to keep us safe from ourselves !

God forbid that those engineless F-14's should somehow manage to take flight.

I'd put this right up there with cutting the motor mounts on an F-105 that has been parked since 1982.

If you're refering to the incident in San Diego in 1996, the suspect wasn't in the military. He was a former tank driver and was pyscho. He been digging a gold mine in his backyard.

This is a load of crap! :x I feel very bad for the Yank guys. I hope they don't get in trouble and I hope they get their F-14's back!

Theres an F-14 in Elmira at the NWM. I hope they don't go taking that.....

I am afraid of what our future holds. More and more things are getting tighter every day. :bs:

Thank you GWB!

Nor was I sir, but it's become a common retort for folks to throw Clinton in
the face of anyone who has a problem with Bush, and/or we're against the
troops. These replies aren't reason, they're Roveian rhetoric. :?

The rest of my reply, I didn't believe was really that far off topic, as it concerned
FF's implication that "dumb" is trickling down into the agencies from these
boneheads....be it ICE, DOD or ATF in a number of situations. This is germaine
to the F-14's being seized, transported, re-demilled and (hopefully) returned
to their rightful owners! All at great expense to we the taxpayer and at
wasted time by agencies who need to spend their time on endeavors more
in line with actually protecting the nation.

OK, I've been watching the news. Both NBC and CBS local affiliates have been reporting. The County Sheriffs have been deployed with floodlights to guard these dangerous assault planes. They arrived and set up just in time for the 11:00 PM news report.

The news reports are actually stating that the aircraft were being seized over concerns that they contain parts that were improperly demilitarized before they left the Navy's control, and that the only country still operating the F-14 was Iran, hence the concern.

Some folks at Chino are concerned that the aircraft will be carted away and scrapped. This is problematic when you obtain something legitimately and invest money (or trade something of value) and then get your stuff confiscated. Kind of like buying an expensive watch that turns out to be stolen. You become an innocent victim, but in this case a victim of your own government's incompetence.

Someone correct me if I'm remembering incorrectly, but isn't Forgotton Field
an EMT? I could care less about the politcs of the Medic...just fix me boss!
Never enough Medics or Corpsman in a war!

Does that mean they won't get their F-14's back?

That would certainly be the worst case, although maybe they can get the crushed metal back to sell as souvenirs?

Who here would buy an icon of government overreaction for a $20 donation?

Stupid has been dripping down the ranks forever! Remember Ruby Ridge, remember Wako? And I'm sure there is 1000 more to be remembered after that by every President!

That fact is this is a great way for some desk jockey lifer to make himself shine and look like he has just made the world a safer place. Just like inviting the media to witness the assault on some whack-jobs compound in some like Texas town that has a name that seems to ring of Irony. I bet 99% of the Government sees no changes when new administrations take charge, I don’t think the Government can move fast and action is not what Bureaucracy is know for. Lets leave the body counting for the off topic, that way some of us can just mark those as read and move on.

But in the end the sad truth is there are a few F-14 that might not be with us tomorrow or the next day because of a “paranoid’ government.
