Can someone tell me how many B-17's are currently flying in the US? And total for the world?

A friend asked me today, and I have no idea. Thanks.

9 are currently in flying status here in the states. But this number will soon change. There are others that are in flying condition with a little help, but are not actively flown.

2 in Europe.

Hopefully Texas Raiders will be back in the air this year. And I believe Miss Angela is in flying shape...but rarely flown..

Can anyone give me the inside scoop on Miss Angela?

What are the a/c?
I wouldn't count Evergreen's has it hasen't flown in years and needs the
wing spar AD. I doubt it will fly again (along with 99.9% of the collection)
under EVG ownership. :?

It flew at Chino show last May.

And you missed the Collings Foundation's aircraft off your list, so I make it 12 currently active.

Elroy13 - The Fort that seems somewhat mysterious to me is that E-Model that was flown up from South America. I saw pictures of it after the restoration in Florida, and it looked great. Then it flew to Washington (I think), and thats the last I have ever heard about it, and that was several years ago.

Was Aluminum Overcast Up for Thunder 2005?

I volunteered with the Liberty Belle last weekend. When passing threw Douglas GA we saw a set of outer wing panels, a vertical stab and rudder that looked like new. I assume it's the progress on the Labrador B-17? If that is the case then they have made a lot of progress since the last time I saw it and it wont be long for 13.
