I was watching TV tonite and Amazing Stories: The Movie, part 5 was on. The story is about a cartoonist gunner in a doomed B-17 , Starring Kevin Costner. What B-17(s) were used in the movie? Thanks

The soundtrack is from "Sentimental Journey"

The original models (around 1/6th scale I believe) are in a local museum here in Fresno. It is the "Legion of Valor" museum. At one time it was hanging in a local hobby shop.

I don't think any B-17 was used at all in the production. The ground shots of the B-17 in "The Mission" were a total mock-up, as was the interior. I believe the author Bruce Orriss was involved in putting together the necessary stuff to flesh out the B-17.
But don't worry..."No B-17's were harmed during the making of this production"! :)

I think EAA Warbirds Magazine had a piece about the production back in 1987 or so.

They built a rather large mock up of the wing with the gear that was all "shot up."
