I know there are several firms that produce/offer for sale
replicas of Browning .30 and .50 cal weapons. Does anyone
offer a sumilar replica of a 20MM Orleikon (sp?) as used on
ships in the anti aircraft role during WWII?

Owen,

I have seen a dummy 20mm Oerliken for sale before but can't seem to find the website. The following webiste does have some nice weapons for sale to include a Naval Deck Mount, Water Cooled .50 cal. 8)

http://www.bmgparts.com/mount.html

Lord only knows how much something like that might run though!

This website has Oerlikon drums as well as other parts (scroll all the way down the page close to the bottom).

Here you go! Looks like one was up for auction about 3 weeks ago and didn't sell since the reserve bid wasn't met.

I think I'd shoot the guy on Gunbroker an email and ask his price. Since he didn't get his price with the auction, he just may give you a price you can handle. Unless the $1,000 he turned down is too high for you.

Mudge the logical :D

Yeah...so could I, but Mrs. Mudge says I have enough guns. I say BLASPHEMY!! Too many guns is one more than you have. Got a safe full now, so any more would mean investing in another safe.
Oh well...I guess I'll just have to spend her money on flying lessons.

Mudge the put upon

Is there such a thing?? My wife seems to think so, but for some reason (before I moved to the UK, that is) every time I went TDY the Per Diem money afterward mysteriously disappeared....and generally ended up at the CMP!!

so am I, I only have some real old pre-war Garands, a March 1941 and a Dec 1941. The Dec 1941 is a lend lease Garand. I found it hiding in a pawn shop, I rescued it and had it appraised. paid $600, worth $3500, I like pawn shops :D

I took Mudge's advice and emailed the fellow with the 20MM
Oerlikon auction. I never heard back from him

I like Garands as much as the next guy although I only have
two. But could we return to the original subject? Does any-
one know of a source that offers reproduction 20MM Oerlikon
as were used on a ship for anti aircraft use. More specifically,
the single mount, not the twin.
