From the looks of it, unless the pilot bailed he's still in the cockpit under the wreckage...those guys standing around looking for a light for their
Lucky Strikes waiting for someone to tell them what to do..invasion stripes...must be in the fall of 44 with the jackets...

Man what a nasty looking crash. I assume it was fatal?

Not to change lanes here, but does anyone know anything about the short video of 2 p-51's that had a mid air. All you see is them come together and one falls and the other one falls afterwards. I saw it again tonight on Battlefront as they were taking about the B-24's and the oil field raids and it was shown again.

TIA,

Lynn

Lynn,

I seem to recall seeing the mid-air video with narration to the effect that the accident happened in Washington state? and was fatal to both pilots. I'm not sure about the location, may have stated Oregon, but the outcome was tragic nonetheless.

Is this the midair to which you were referring?

http://www.check-six.com/lib/Movie_Crash.htm

When I first saw it I thought they were P-40s due to the wing shape, but they were A-25s.

My 500th post! :D

I've seen that clip many times (without the saucer) and never considered that they were A-25s.
Freezing the frames changes your mind doesn't it?

these are A-36 Apache (or possibly early P-51's) ..... the accident happened during training - will try to come up with date / serials / location soonest
