Better late than never!!!!
The CA-27 Sabre, produced by the Commonwealth Aircraft Factory, was a uniquely Australian version that adapted the basic F-86 Sabre airframe to the Rolls Royce Avon turbojet engine.
Although the standard Sabre and the Avon Sabre look superficially similar, the changes required to fit the Avon engine meant that only 40% of the original fuselage structure remained.
The installation of two 30mm Aden cannon in place of the machine gun armament of the North American version also required some modifications.

The Canadair Sabres also had an Avon, the Orenda engine was a licensed-built Avon, thoroughfully enhanced by the excellent Canuck engineers!

OK, I'll go a different direction.
NAA AJ Savage although the photo of one doing a CV trap and the engines come flying off does bother me a bit!

got me curious now though since I have read of the problems of redesigning the CAC sabres for using the avons how much troublbe the canadian ones were to develop.
as for mine. for some reason I reckon a nice little GAF Pika or a Wamira ( didn't make it to production but looks nice ) or a mirage III ( or IV if I wanted to take the family
)
