anybody see the new airbus a 380 in the flesh???

I really must ride the jumpseat on this beast one day just to check out the view from the office! It's an impressive feat of engineering. I've driven old and new Boeing airliners and loved flying every one of them, but know a lot of guys/gals that fly Airbus aircraft and give 'em the thumbs up. It'd be interesting to hear how the maintainers compare the two during daylight hours. I can see how any of them would be ugly beasts on the night shift!

Agreed. One just has to look north to see how many great C-47's are still happily trucking along in Alaska and Canada's North.

I'm no spam can pilot, but, I wonder what it must be like to land this tall large a/c in a good crosswind. That's what it looked like to me on the NYC arrival landing.

As a regular air traveler for business, including international travel, I am not looking forward to flying with that many "fellow" travelers at the same time. Boarding & deplaning is already a chore, to put it mildly.

Big, BEAUTIFUL airplane! Saw it on landing approach just north of Washington Dulles early this afternoon during a demonstration flight.

I would love to fly in one someday.

I work for Goodrich Aerospace in Oakville Ontario Canada
We build the Main Landing Gear both the Wing and the Body gear for the A380.
I'm currently a quality control Inspector for that program.
It would be neat to see the "Big Bird" in person.

That's OK though, they have low cost government loans to fall back on.

I could have seen it, but as an employee of "Brand A" I felt the need to avert my eyes.

If they ever get their tanker operational I suppose that will be a warbird.

Speaking of Brand A have your heard any news/rumors? I heard the C-5M mod program is bombing.

Airbus just called and we are signing the contract tomorrow to fly there flight crew out when they park the A-380 in the desert.

Which will more than likely be next week. I am sorry, but any aircraft that can't pass it's structure tests should not be allowed to go forward.
