I was wondering what you all thought about this. Of all the aircraft wrecks out there, which ones in particular would you like to see recovered? Name several but don't be silly and say all of them. :lol: :wink:

For me? There is a fully intact B-25H or G with a 75 mm cannon sitting on a small hill on Bougenville(sp?). That B-18 on Oahu I would like to see recovered as well. There are also a bunch of TBF/TBM Avengers off Florida just waiting to be picked! :twisted:

I've always been interested in wrecks that pertain to a rare aircraft or earlier model(example: a B-25C). Well, I guess I'll just leave it at that. :oops:

Seriously, though, did you mean aircraft wrecks whose locations are well known, or ones that are known to be missing but haven't yet been located, or just types in general?

There are a few crash sites that was mentioned here on the WIX. The same guy that is raising the Flying Tiger P-40. And the Ruptured Duck is sunk off the coast of China. I am sure they are pretty horrific condition.

If you're talking about known wrecks, I'd like to see:

1. B-29 "Lady of the Lake" in Alaska
2. B-29 in Lake Mead
3. The rest of the the P-38's & the 2 B-17's in Greenland
4. Kee Bird....at least what is left of her
5. B-24 in the Aleutians
6. Lady Be Good...it's been recovered, but needs to be returned to the US

Of course just about the whole list is a pipe dream, but you asked :) .

Preddy's last Mustang would be rockin'. And Gentile's too. Anybody think Elwyn Righetti's (sp?) P-51 would be very meaningful if you know his story.

I didn't laugh.

Unless it is just too much of a needle in a haystack or the wreckage is buried by currents in the Channel/North Sea, that is one mystery I sort of hoped Robert Ballard or James Cameron to tackle some day. It would be nice to give Mr. Miller and his pilot a proper remembrance.
